Julie Newman anchors News 5 WCYB at 5, 6 and 11. She brings a dozen years of television experience to the newsroom.
Virginia truly is home to Julie; she was born in Roanoke, grew up in Williamsburg, went to college at Christopher Newport University in Newport News and started her TV career at WVEC in Norfolk.
Julie and her husband spent some time in upstate New York, where she anchored for NewsCenter 7 in Ithaca and News10Now in Syracuse.
After they started a family, Julie returned home to Virginia to anchor for WSET in Roanoke/Lynchburg. You may have seen Julie on the air in the Tri-Cities on Blue Ridge PBS; as Executive Producer and host, she brought the station 15 state, national and local awards – including two Emmy awards.
Julie and her husband, Geoff, along with their two children, Zackary and Lindsay, are happy to call Bristol home.
