Johnson City Schools $2.2 million short from balancing budget
The Johnson City School Board is crunching numbers and finding themselves 2.2 million dollars short of a balanced budget.
We spoke with Chair of the Johnson City School Board Kathy Hall and she told us they are still in the preliminary process.
Hall said they knew it would be a tough year because of stimulus money running out and said they are unsure of what cuts they will have to make, because the majority of the funding goes to personnel. "We've made a lot of cuts over the last few years, now we're at the point where education cuts really hits into our academics and that's what we're trying to avoid," she said.
Hall said the board is meeting with the city commission tomorrow about where they stand with the budget.
