Northeast Tennessee Food Bank gets $5,000 check
The Northeast Tennessee Second Harvest food bank got a nearly $5,000 dollar check this weekend.
General Mills gave them the money after the kick off to the Outnumber Hunger campaign at the free The Band Perry concert in Greeneville Saturday.
Kathy Smith with Second Harvest says the money will go towards food purchase and special programs.
Smith hopes people will keep giving to help end hunger. "People can really help by purchasing these products and looking for the special code on the package. It generates a code and sends monetary money back to our food bank," said Smith.
For every dollar, Smith says it provides nearly five meals for the hungry.
