Officials speak out against selling wine in supermarkets
A group of officials is speaking out against a legislative proposal to allow wine to be sold in Tennessee grocery and convenience stores.
Authorities believe the greater availability of wine could come at the price of public safety.
David Rausch, the Knoxville Police Chief, pointed to an incident at the University of Tennessee that put one student in the hospital.
Rausch also says the incident should dispel claims that underage drinkers are not interested in obtaining wine illegally.
