ETSU comes up short against Winthrop
The ETSU men's basketball team fell to Winthrop 76-66 Wednesday night in Johnson City.
The Bucs used a 15-0 offensive run that gave them a 49-48 lead with 12:43 left in the game, but Winthrop responded with a 14-2 run of their own to pull ahead for good.
Winthrop was led by forward Joab Jerome with a game-high 18 points, while forward James Bourne pitched in 12, guard Keon Johnson netted 11, and guard Andre Smith added 10.
For the Bucs, senior forwards Hunter Harris and Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard led the way with 18 points and 16 points, respectively, while junior guard Jalen Riley collected 12.
The Bucs will return to action on Thursday night as the team plays the first of three games inside Freedom Hall. ETSU will take on Samford at 7 p.m.
