NHRA racing wrapped up Sunday at Bristol Dragway. Over the weekend, about 60,000 people were expected.
Race to Bristol drag way on any given Father's Day weekend and you're bound to see a big crowd. "This Father's Day weekend has become a great tradition for us. It's a great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy the drag racing here at Thunder Valley," General Manager of BMS Jerry Caldwell says.
That's exactly what Harry Houston and his grandson are doing. "It gives us a lot of time to spend together and just enjoy being here."
Caldwell says this year has been one of their best. "We're up over last year, all three days. Very pleased with it. We always have big crowd for this event, it's one of the biggest on the NHRA circuit."
The crowd came from all over the United States to see the drag racing action. "I've picked up people from New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Alabama, just today giving them rides coming in. So they really come from all over the country to enjoy what we have here," Caldwell continues.
Some fans camp out and make a week out of it. "It's an awesome experience, all the adrenaline, it's Father's Day, I've got some good buddies with me, and I'd like to send a special shout out to my dad back in Virginia," fan Nathanil Hughett says.
