OECD gauged the safest states by using crime data. Scores were assigned from 0 to 10, based on homicide rates and self-reported crime. Take a look at the safest states in America.

Police responding to reports of a home intruder in Massachusetts found an unusual culprit.

Instead of a burglar, officers in North Reading discovered a soot-covered duck.

The homeowner called police Saturday from her upstairs bedroom after she heard loud banging noises downstairs and feared someone had broken into her home, The Associated Press reported.

Officers believe the duck got in through the chimney.

Police eventually captured the bird and released it into a nearby pond.
