A young woman delivered her first child at home, alone and during a snowstorm.
According to TheIndyChannel.com, Mariah Grove was sitting in her Indianapolis home when she started having contractions despite the fact that her due date was not for several more weeks. She contacted her midwives and then her mother, but nobody could get to her in time. Around 2 a.m., her water broke and she prepared herself to have her first child alone, in her bedroom.
"The second she came out, she was crying. She was pink. She's already nursed several times. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome," Grove said.
Evangeline Beatrix Grove was born healthy. Both mother and baby are doing well.
