A 65-year-old former cheerleader has been banned from doing cartwheels at local government meetings.

Dianne "DD" Barker, from Phoeniz, Arizona, is a former Ohio State cheerleader who likes to promote active living and emphasize her points by doing cartwheels at Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) meetings, reports KSAZ.

An attorney representing MAG recently sent Barker a letter insisting that she "must immediately cease performing cartwheels at MAG meetings." The association claims to have the authority to impose time and manner restrictions on all speakers.

Michael LeVault, chairman of the MAG Regional Council, told The Arizona Republic, "It's not my intention to shut down public comment at all...it was just really a safety issue, a liability issue for the attorneys."

Barker doesn't see anything wrong with doing cartwheels, but agreed to refrain from doing them during the meetings.
