Woman shot in Pa. hospital bed
A 62-year-old Pennsylvania woman is recovering after being hit by a stray bullet while sitting in her hospital bed.
The woman was at Crozer Chester Medical Center near Philadelphia for a routine procedure when the bullet came flying through the window of her first-floor hospital room, Philadelphia TV station KYW reported.
"She heard a popping sound, and then reached down to her side, her abdominal area, where she noticed that she was in pain and had blood coming out of that area," said Jack Whelan, the Delaware County district attorney.
The bullet exited the woman's back and was found in her hospital bed.
Hit in the torso, she was taken into surgery immediately and listed in stable condition.
Investigators now believe two correctional officers may be responsible for the accidental shooting.
Multiple casings were found on the roof of a nearby parking garage, where the pair was standing at the time of the shooting Monday night, according to KYW.
