JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -

A Washington County, Tennessee Grand Jury indicted the school bus driver authorities say was involved in a crash on September 20 on more serious charges.

According to Kingsport Times News, 54-year-old Brenda Gray was indicted on 39 counts of reckless aggravated assault and one count of speeding and reckless driving.

Officials say these charges increase the amount of jail time Gray faces if convicted.

She was previously charged with only eight counts of reckless aggravated assault for the most seriously injured students and 31-counts of felony reckless endangerment for the others on board. Prosecutors asked the grand jury to up the charges to the more serious offense for each student on board the bus.

Gary is charged after a rollover bus crash that involved 39 David Crockett High School students.

She is free on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to be in criminal court on January 22.
