Snapp, David Randall
WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA -

An undercover online sting lands a Church Hill man behind bars.

Washington County, Virginia officials said 54-year-old David Randall Snapp is charged with using communication systems to facilitate crimes against children and attempting to commit indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15.

Investigators said Snapp was communicating with who he believed to be a 14-year-old juvenile, and he proposed sexual acts.

Detectives said Snapp was actually chatting with an undercover officer.

"By doing these proactive investigations, you don't have an actual, live victim to take someone off the street that you know is seeking out a person. We're getting to them before they get to a child," said James Blevins, a detective for the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff's Department.

Snapp is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
