SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

A string of thefts have police warning boat owners to lock their gear.

In the last two weeks the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department has received at least six reports of thefts from boat owners.

We're told many of the items being taken are used for fishing, hunting or camping. "Most of the cases have occurred at the 421 boat ramp. However, thieves have targeted boats parked in driveways and it's obvious they are going around specifically looking for this type of equipment," says Sullivan County Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is reminding boat owners to lock up any valuables, keep their cars locked and report any suspicious activity.
