Carter County house fire
CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. -

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: Fire crews were called out to the home on Bailey Lane in Carter County around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Click here to view photos from the scene.

The Central Volunteer Fire Department chief told us when they got to the scene, the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames.

Chief Neil Miller said no one was inside at the time, but the home is a total loss.

A deputy on the scene told us clothes were packed inside the house, which likely added fuel to the flames. Crews called in help from several other departments to get the fire under control.

Miller told us battling a mobile home fire is always tough especially in weather like this. "You have a short time to get here and get it under control. like I said, it being cold like this, everything adds up you know. it's just hard to do," said Miller.

The American Red Cross was on the scene.

Officials told us it's possible the fire started with a heater, but no official cause has been determined. The investigation is ongoing.
