Kingsport police are investigating a robbery at gunpoint on the Greenbelt.

Investigators said two victims, a young male and female, were walking east near the entrance to the Greenbelt behind Petsmart Sunday afternoon.

The victims told police a man approached them and grabbed the woman's purse.

"When the male went to confront the female, at this point, he stated the suspect pointed a gun at him, and then after that point the male fled down the Greenbelt with the victim's purse," said Detective Sgt. Chris Tincher with the Kingsport Police Department.

The suspect was described as being in his late 40s or early 50s, about 6' 2" with dark curly hair and a scruffy beard.
