UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. -

The Unicoi County Animal Shelter earned the 2012 Best Regional Small Animal Shelter Award from The Northeast Tennessee Animal Association (NETNAA).

The NETNAA is committed to advocating and facilitating improvement in the care and treatment of small animals in Northeast Tennessee.

UCAS is a non-profit animal shelter that is working hard to move from a low-kill to a NO-KILL animal shelter.

The Unicoi County Animal Shelter operates to provide a safe haven for the animals of Unicoi County.

UCAS is an animal control and adoption center. "All of our pets are loved and given the best care possible," said shelter director Jessica Blevins. "We depend on the support of volunteers, adopters, and rescues to keep saving lives. We are a small shelter, have a very small staff, and put our hearts and souls into our animals."
