New facts about animals in Smyth County shelter

SMYTH COUNTY, Va. -

The Smyth County, Virginia Animal Shelter is working to stop the spread of distemper.

According to animal control officer Bill Turnman, four dogs tested positive for distemper.

He tells us the shelter remains closed for now.

Shelter workers have contacted the state veterinary office to get further instructions on how to continue to clean cages and other areas of the shelter.
