SESSIONS JUDGE
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -

A court back-logged with cases got a new judge to take up some slack.

The Washington County, Tennessee County Commission appointed Johnson city attorney Don Arnold as its new sessions court judge.

Arnold spent Friday observing as court was in session. He also sat down with us; he said he's honored and humbled to be chosen to help keep justice in the county.

"I want to help these people in the best way I can, and there is a problem with a back-log here, and there [are] too many cases, and hopefully I can do whatever is necessary to makes sure that backlog dwindles," said Arnold.

Arnold said he's spent the past several years in a private law practice, but he has previously served as an assistant district attorney and a special justice on the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Arnold is also a former Johnson City mayor, commissioner, and state legislator.
