It's time to sign up for football. It's flag football. Boys and girls can play int his fast paced fun football league comingi n the fall. Early registration is through July 25th. Late registration is July 25th through August 8th. The season begins September 6th and continues through November 1st. Games will be played on Saturdays at Steele Creek Park. The Ride for Noah is Saturday, July 26th from 10am until 6pm at Rogersville City Park. There is a $10 donation per rider. Learn more about this fundraising effort and the foundation at Just 4 Kidz.

This is the final week for the outdoor drama, "Liberty" at Sycamore Shoals. The show is at 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday at the Fort Watauga Amphitheater. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 and over ad $5 for children ages six-17. Ages five and under are admitted free.  Learn more here.

The 2014 Appalachian Fair runs from Monday, August 18th through Saturday, August 23rd. The entry forms for the Appalachian Fair 4-H Exhibits are due Friday, July 25th to the fair office. It's Friday and that means Border Bash in Bristol. Due to the weather, the music is being moved inside. The concerts will be held at the Stateline Bar & Grill on State Street. Jonesborough Storytellers Guild brings spooky Graveyard Tales from Appalachia to the Rocky Mount Historic Site on Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m.  Stories for this year’s theme, Tales from the Graveyard, are sure to bring a chill on a hot July evening.  This year’s special set design is by Hunter Graybeal and his committee of David Claunch, Jim Foote, and Jeff Stratton.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.  Graveyard Tales is not recommended for children 12 and under.

Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC will host "A Grand Night for Singing." The Rodger & Hammerstein's musical is scheduled for July 16th-July 19th at 7pm and July 17th, July 19th and July 20th at 2pm. For tickets click on Summer Theatre.

Color X-treme 5K Fun Run is Saturday, August 16th at 10am. It winds through the Virginia Highlands Community College campus, leaving participants covered in a rainbow of colors.

The event is being sponsored by the VHCC SGA, and all proceeds will support a scholarship program for second-year students at VHCC who exhibit outstanding leadership abilities.

Registration is $20 in advance (before Aug. 1) and $25 after that. Teams of six may participate for $100. The registration fee includes a commemorative race t-shirt and a bag of color. For more information or to register click here.

The Laurel Marina & Yacht Club will host the South Holston Lake, Speedway Children's Charities On Water Poker Run. The event, which has grown steadily over the past eight years, has raised over $80,000 for the Bristol Motor Speedway based charity. Tennessee’s official outdoor drama, presented by local performers against the backdrop of Fort Watauga.   See the Revolution as told by the Overmountain Men: colonists who defied British law and settled on Cherokee lands.  These settlers formed an independent government, made treaties with the Cherokee, defended their homes, and fought a British army at the epic battle of King’s Mountain.  Bleacher seating is available in the Amphitheater.  Sponsored by Friends of Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area.  Admission Charge.

The town of Marion, Va will host a July 4th celebration. The 5K Freedom Run is at the Holston Hills Community Club on Friday, July 4th. Registration starts at 7am. Would you like to own a porsche? Now's your chance. Cornerstone Christian Academy is raffling off a porsche this Friday, July 4th at 8pm.

The drawing will coincide with the festivities that take place during the annual Independence Day celebration at the Harry L. Coomes Recreation Center in Abingdon, Virginia. The Knoxville Zoo is proud to announce its new Wee Play Adventure. The area will open July 19th. Iti s designed for pre-school and elementary-aged children. Wee Play Adventure will encourage an exciting search for lizards of all types and includes the chance for a close-up encounter with Khaleesi and Drogo, the zoo’s two Komodo dragons. Now he's about to embark on a whole new adventure in a new show at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Va. The show runds June 24th through July 19th. Don't miss, Liberty Celebration 2014. It's at the Toy F. Reid Employee Center Friday, June 27th at 7:30pm, Saturday, June 28th at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. This is the 11th patriotic concert. Details here. 

 The 2014 Jonesborough Days Festival will begin Thursday, July 3rd at noon and continue throughout the weekend, ending at 10 p.m. on Saturday July 5th with the much anticipated fireworks show that can be seen from downtown.

The annual parade will take place on Friday, July 4 at 10 a.m.  Festival hours include Thursday, July 3rd from noon to 10 p.m., Friday, July 4th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, July 5th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited, features entertainment legend Dolly Parton, Steve Marin and Vince Gill. The recording project includes 16 of the original songs from the Bristol Sessions. It is set to be released in October. Learn more at the Birthplace of Country Music.
