Police find meth lab in motel room
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. -

Deputies found a meth lab in a motel room as they went to arrest a wanted man on an outstanding warrant.

Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Fred Newman said deputies found the meth lab at the Super 8 Motel in Glade Spring Tuesday night when they went to arrest 39-year-old Howard Edward Wilson, Jr. on an outstanding warrant. Newman said that warrant was for violation of probation stemming from a previous meth conviction.

When deputies got to the room they found a small one-pot meth lab in Wilson's motel room. Newman said these types of labs are a growing problem. "The one-pot meth labs we're seeing now are an easier, more mobile type way of making it, so it's harder for law enforcement to pinpoint an area," he said.

Wilson is charged with manufacturing meth. He was transported to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Abingdon Facility where he is being held without bond.

A hearing date has been set in the Washington County General District Court on December 17, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. A hearing date has also been set for the probation violation on November 29, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in the Washington County Circuit Court.

Newman said this is the second meth lab his department has busted in the past week.
