Remembering a Tuskegee Airman

Published On: Apr 13 2013 09:27:12 PM CDT

A distinguished member of the Tuskegee Airmen died Thursday.

Dempsey Morgan died at the Virginia Veterans Care Center.  He was 93.

The Tuskegee Airmen were America's first black military fliers who took to the skies during World War II.  They were trained at the army air field in Tuskegee, Alabama.

Morgan was a member of the 332nd fighter group.

During his service he received the distinguished flying cross and a bronze star.

It's estimated that fewer than 200 Tuskegee Airmen are still alive.
