GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. -

A local lawmaker has been indicted on a felony charge of reckless endangerment.

We got a copy of the Greene County grand jury indictment against state representative David Hawk.

The special prosecutor presented the case to the grand jury Monday, saying Representative Hawk recklessly caused bodily injury to another person. The charges stem from an assault reported in March by his wife.

Representative Hawk was re-elected in November.

He told News 5 on the phone Tuesday that he will continue to work for the people of Greene County and to clear his name. "I strongly declare my innocence. I've done nothing wrong and we will continue to vigorously fight these charges," he said.

Hawk is scheduled to back in court on Friday.
