A warrant has been issued for a suspect's arrest following a fatal shooting in Johnson City.
Police aren't revealing the suspect's name, but told us no arrest has been made as of Wednesday evening.
Johnson City Police are investigating, and right now they're asking for help in finding out what happened shortly after midnight on Nathaniel Drive.
It's a day of sorrow at Johnson City's Westgate Village Apartments.
Police told us 47-year-old Timothy B. Peregoy, who was staying in one of the apartments, was shot early Wednesday morning..
Investigators said he was lying on the sidewalk when help arrived. "He was transported to the medical center where he was pronounced dead," said Captain Mike Street with JCPD.
Neighbor Shirley Garland told us she heard a loud commotion and what sounded like people fighting. "There was a lot of screaming and hollering going on over there," said Garland.
Multiple neighbors in the apartment complex told News 5 in the midst of the commotion, they heard what they believed to be two gunshots.
Captain Street told us they need to look at forensic evidence after an autopsy to help determine what happened. "Until we get a report from them, we're not sure how many times he was shot exactly. There is the possibility it was multiple times," Captain Street said.
Investigators said family was there at the time of the shooting, but the case isn't believed to be a domestic situation, but clear answers have yet to be revealed. "Right now we're not getting a lot of information that's helping us at this point," said Captain Street.
That's leaving this community still shaken with fear. "It's awful scary, yes, and a place like this anyway, because there's so much that goes on in here," Garland added.
