Nashville, Tenn. -

A proposal to freeze the Tennessee beer tax has officially been signed by Governor Bill Haslam.

The proposal converts the current 17% tax to a flat tax in line with the current rate. The House approved the measure 87 to 2, and the Senate passed it with a 30 to 1 vote.

Tennessee’s beer taxes are higher compared to other states because the bulk of it is based on price. So the more expensive the beer, the higher the tax.
