ADKINS DRINKS
SMYTH COUNTY, Va. -

The Atkins district of Smyth County wants to help attract businesses, so they had a referendum to allow mixed alcoholic beverages to be sold.

Yesterday voters decided to approve the measure.
Mark Prater is the man behind the measure.

And he tells us he pushed for it to pass so Adkins wouldn't miss out on opportunities for economic expansion.

“It will make Adkins an equal playing field in the county from the far end of the county where they passed the legislation last year and Atkins wasn't included in it now land for sale down there is equal value as up here,” said Mark Prater.

He tells us that Smyth County left Atkins out of a recent passage of a mixed drink referendum.

Prater hopes this will attract restaurants like Macado's to the area.
