Animal rescue group recruiting runners

ABINGDON, Va. -

Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, Virginia (www.htar.org) is hosting its first annual 5K "Run Fur Their Lives" and "Strut Your Mutt" Walk this weekend.

The event is Saturday, November 2 and late registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Abingdon Creeper Trail head.

The 5K benefits Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VA, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of animals from the harm of abuse, neglect, abandonment and unnecessary euthanasia. 

The group also aids with the placement of animals in loving, lifetime homes.

HTAR supports and promotes spaying and neutering of all cats and dogs to help control the pet overpopulation and promotes education of the public about responsible pet ownership.
 
Members of Happy Tails have been practicing animal rescue since 2002 and more than 8,600 animals have been saved at this time.

$20 per person for pre-registration
$25 per person for day of registration

Free 5 and younger
$5 per each dog
$15 per adult
$10 per 12 and younger

Registration includes t-shirt for runners, bandannas for walkers, and goody bags for all. T-shirts and bandannas are only guaranteed for participants registered by October 21, 2013.
