water main repairs again
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

It's déjà vu in Johnson City as another water main is in need of work. Luckily, this time no homes or businesses were flooded.

Johnson City Director of Water and Sewer Tom Witherspoon says the water main is at the intersection of Mountcastle Drive and Cox Farm Court.

Witherspoon tells us each year the city inspects 300 miles of their water system for any underground leaks. This is one of the water mains they found that leaked and needed repairs.

Water from the break made its way to the storm drain and creek.

Witherspoon says these repairs are critical. "It's a precious resource so what we want to try to do is systematically go look for those leaks that aren't surfacing and make repairs on those," adds Witherspoon.

Witherspoon says the road back open and they will repave Thursday. Over the next two weeks they will repair the sidewalk and grass.
