CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. -

A local sheriff's office is looking for reserve deputies.

Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says the sheriff's office is accepting applications for the reserve deputy program.

We've learned reserve deputies are assigned to the same types of duties as full-time deputies but serve fewer than 24 hours a month.

A mandatory meeting will be held for candidates and applications will also be completed at that time. The meeting will be July 29, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the Criminal Court Room of the Carter County Detention Center.

Sheriff Mathes says the program requires all applicants meet the same hiring, background, physical, medical and psychological standards as full-time deputies.

If you are interested in becoming a reserve deputy and would like more information, contact Deputy Mike Carlock at (423) 542-6249.
