Area United Way agencies asking for donations

BRISTOL, Tenn. -

Area United Way agencies continue to make an appeal from donations from the community.

We checked in with four United Way agencies (Bristol, Kingsport, Washington County, Tennessee and Southwest Virginia) and found out the campaigns are still in full swing but  some are approaching their goal.

Dozens of agencies benefit from the United Way.

Today we talked to a representative from casa( Court Appointed Special Advocates), they advocate for children in courtrooms during cases like divorces or abuse and neglect.

Casa Volunteer Coordinator Brooke Lamere says
"When the needs for our services increased within the juvenile courts it became necessary to add a second full time staff member. Had the united way of bristol not answered that call it would not be possible.  The number of children we served in sullivan county would be about cut in half."

United Way campaigns will continue until the goals are met.
