Stacie Eichinger grew up in Tuscon, Arizona, but she has always dreamed of walking coast to coast. Now she is doing just that to raise money for kids coping with serious illness.
Eichinger started her journey in Ocean Shores, Washington which is just outside Seattle and she plans to finish in Savannah, Georgia. That is a trip of just over 3800 miles.
She is walking to raise money for Beads for Courage, a non-profit organization that provides support for children coping with serious illness and life threatening disease.
Eichinger moves along with two pair of shoes, a couple of pairs of pants and two warm coats. She says by carrying less, she can move faster.
The best part is meeting the kids in the hospitals, but its also a great chance to see the country. "I wanted to start in the North and head South because that is part of the country I haven't seen" said Eichinger. "The rest was plotted out based on the locations of the hospitals."
Eichinger plans to be in the Tri Cities area until early next week and then she will continue her journey to North Carolina and finally Savannah.
