JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Johnson City is hosting the 14th annual Blue Plum Festival this weekend.

Festivities kicked off this morning in the downtown area.

The event includes live music, arts, crafts, food vendors, a 5K road race, a bicycle race, and the urban art showdown, which highlights graffiti artists.

"The great thing about Blue Plum is that there's always something new that comes along, of course the bands are always different every single year," said Shannon Castillo with the Washington County, Tennessee Economic Development Council, who is also heavily involved with the Blue Plum festival.

"We have one stage that has only local bands, from between here and two and a half hours away from here, so that's one thing that makes us unique," said Castillo.

Castillo said they are also excited about the bicycle race, which kicks off at 8 a.m. Sunday.

"It happens around downtown Johnson City.  It's like NASCAR except on bicycles and really, it is amazing," said Castillo.

Blue Plum is also proud to announce a Blue Plum Revival happening Sunday morning, with the help of some downtown churches. Sunday's festivities will include music, storytelling and plenty of activities for the kids.

The Blue Plum 5K is Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
