UPDATE: Suspect in custody after shooting outside Johnson Inn

A man is in custody in connection with a shooting at a Johnson City motel.  It happened at the Johnson Inn, off West Market Street, just after six o'clock Thursday night.

A man is in custody in connection with a shooting at a Johnson City motel. It happened at the Johnson Inn, off West Market Street, just after six o'clock Thursday night.

Johnson City police said they got a report of a shooting and found the body of 21-year-old Casey Jones, of Johnson City, in a van outside the motel. Police said he had been shot once in the head after an altercation with the suspect.

News 5 was told further investigation identified the suspect as 18-year-old Coty Bishop of Jonesborough. After a search, he was found and arrested Thursday night.

Bishop is now charged with second degree murder and tampering with evidence. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where his bond was set at $150,000.

He's expected to be arraigned in Washington County, Tennessee General Sessions Court Friday afternoon.

Police are no longer on the scene at the motel, but several law enforcement agencies continue the search for the shooter.

Johnson City police are at the scene of the Johnson Inn on West Market Street where officers say they found a body.

Police on scene tell News 5's Tim Cable they responded to a reported shooting at the Johnson Inn around 6 pm.

One man is confirmed dead, and officers are looking for another man wanted in connection with the shooting.

Officers said they found a man shot to death in a white van outside the motel.

Johnson City Police and Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Deputies are actively searching for the unidentified suspect.
