Burglars hit vehicles at YMCA and Aquatics Center

AUTO BURGLARIES
KINGSPORT, Tenn. -

Police in Kingsport are investigating a series of car burglaries at the Kingsport YMCA and Aquatics Center.

The Kingsport Police Department tell us on Sunday around 1:30 in the afternoon three vehicles were broken into in the parking lot.

Officers say in all three cases someone smashed a window and stole purses that they say were in plain view.

We spoke with the aquatic director Kari Matheney and she tells us they are telling their members to simply be careful and cautious.

"We are telling people just to be vigilant it's that time of year pay attention to your surroundings don't leave your belongings and valuables in plain sight. Make sure you take them with you. Lock your vehicles,” said Matheney.

Police say the suspect was driving a gold Cadillac with tinted windows and Blount County tags.
