Two women hurt when car crashed into Kmart

Firefighters and police investigated Thursday evening.

BRISTOL, Tenn. -

A car crash just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday in Bristol sent three people to the hospital.

Bristol, Tennessee Police say a SUV lost control and slammed into the front of the K-mart located on West State Street.

The driver of the vehicle was Patsy MacKenzie,72, of Glade Spring, VA. Her two passengers were Alice Ratcliffe,84, of Saltville, VA and Barbara Schlessman,71, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

All three are currently at Bristol Regional Medical Center in ICU.

According to witnesses, the vehicle left Captain D’s, crossed W. State St, jumped the curb into the parking lot of K-Mart and the struck the business.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Mechanical failure and health issues are being investigated, but those results may not be available for some time.

No employees or patrons of Kmart were injured in this incident.
