Center For Disease Control is still urging people to get flu shots
Even though winter is coming to an end, the Center for Disease Control is still asking people to get a flu shot if you haven't already.
Dr. Curtis Drumwright tells us it only takes a couple of weeks for the antibodies from the shot to get into your system.
He says because of the severe cases of the flu seen across the country this year, they are asking people to get vaccinated.
Dr. Drumwright says our region saw a peak in flu cases in December, but that doesn't mean we couldn't see a rise again. "We're not seeing very much of it right now, but it cannot be predicted at any time. We've even seen flu cases during the summertime," he said.
Dr. Drumwright says across the country they've had several reports of flu deaths, some victims in their 20s and 30s, which he says is unusual. That's another reason they are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.
