Temperatures are on the rise in the Tri-Cities and firefighters want to remind you to check your car before you head indoors.
Firefighters with the Bristol Tennessee Fire Department say leaving your pet or your child in the back seat while you run an errand is a bad idea.
Factors like the pavement or metal on the car can magnify the heat.
"Even if you think you're parked in the shade the temperatures can still go up. Basically don't leave anything in your vehicle," said Assistant Fire Chief Jack Spurgeon.
Firefighters suggest to walk around your car and look in the windows before going inside.
