Commissioners considering two percent pay raise for all Sull. Co. employees
We've learned Sullivan County Sheriff's employees may not be the only ones receiving raises this year.
We're told some county commissioners are supporting a resolution to give all county employees the same two percent pay raise granted to sheriff's employees as part of the lawsuit settlement.
This would not include school employees, because we're told they were granted a pay raise last year.
Co-sponsor of the resolution, Commissioner Bryan Boyd told News 5 this is a measure of equality. "It really is sending the wrong message that some people are of more value than others and that's just wrong. I've always fought for being fair, whether it's city versus county or anything else," said Boyd.
The estimated cost is somewhere around $700,000.
The resolution will be up for a first hearing at the May commission meeting.
