Community bids farewell to troops

MARION, Va. -

The Town of Marion is preparing for tomorrow's special send-off for an army reserve unit deploying to Afghanistan.

The United States Army Reserves 760th Engineering Company is headquartered in Atkins, Virginia.

Mayor David Helms, along with VFW members Turk Johnson and Ron Null, placed about 60 yellow ribbons along Main Street.

The ribbons are also in front of Marion's town hall on West Main Street where the send-off is happening.

It's scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Members of Rolling Thunder will be in attendance.

Community members are also encouraged to come out and show their support for the troops and their families.
