Company involved in legal fight over federal health care law

OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. -

A federal judge has granted an injunction in a case involving a major retailer and the federal government.

An Oklahoma judge is temporarily exempting Hobby Lobby Incorporated from a provision in the new federal health care law. The provision requires companies to offer insurance coverage for the morning-after pill, and similar birth control or face steep fines.

The judge issued a preliminary injunction.  That will put the case on hold until October first in order to give the federal government time to consider an appeal.

The Christian owners of Hobby Lobby argue their religious beliefs are violated by the birth control coverage requirement.

A few weeks ago, a federal appellate court ruled Hobby Lobby was likely to win its case.
