DICKENSON COUNTY, Va. -

Crews continue to clean up an oil spill in Dickenson County, Virginia.

News 5 talked to Chief Rocky Wood with the Haysi Volunteer Fire Department around 8:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Wood says approximately 275 gallons of motor oil leaked onto Dickenson Highway.

We are told the spill stretches from the Dickenson and Buchanan County line to Doe Branch.

Chief Wood says the Wise hazmat team is on scene along with local firefighters with the Clincho and Haysi fire departments.

Crews are using an absorbent material as well as a street sweeper.

Authorities are planning to go back down to one lane once contractors arrive to do a more thorough job.

Wood tells us the truck carrying the oil had a punctured bladder bag and drivers are asked to use extreme caution in that area given the slick conditions.
