SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

As Thanksgiving approaches some families are planning their holiday meals, others are wondering if they can afford to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

That’s where Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee comes in. It's launching Project Thanksgiving.

Second Harvest hopes to provide Thanksgiving meals to more than 5,000 families in the region.

Each $25 donation covers the cost of a complete Thanksgiving dinner. "We are able to really stretch those dollars that individuals donate. For $25 we're able to purchase a turkey, stuffing, all the vegetables, additional dessert and bread. They receive a traditional Thanksgiving meal," says Rhonda Chafin, the executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee.

Money is being collected now through November 14. To make a donation to Project Thanksgiving visit: www.netfoodbank.org
