Johnson County authorities are still looking for a man they say is armed and dangerous in a connection to a double shooting early Monday morning.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Tenn. -

UPDATE 6/12/2013: Richard Mabe has been added to the TBI's Most Wanted list. Click here to learn more.

----------------------------

Armed, dangerous and violent: that's how Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece describes a suspect he's searching for in connection with a double shooting that happened early Monday morning.

33-year old Richard Shane Mabe and some friends showed up at a home on Divide Road in Johnson County around 2 a.m. early Monday. "Evidently there had been a break-in at this house the last week and a half. [The homeowners] thought that Shane Mabe, the [alleged] shooter, was the one that broke into their house," Sheriff Reece told us.

An altercation of some sort ensued at the home when a pistol was pulled by Mabe. "From what witnesses tell us, Mr. Mabe pulled a gun and just started shooting. Shot two of the boys that were there, Jackie Harless and Michael Laird, who live at the residence," Sheriff Reece said.

Both men are under guard and recovering in an area hospital.

We're told Mabe is no stranger to Johnson County authorities. "He's very violent. We've had him in jail on several occasions. He's got an extensive history [including] aggravated robbery, rape. He's a violent person," Reece says.

There's one thing that has the department worried about trying to apprehend the suspect. "He's considered to be armed and dangerous. He told some of my correctional officers the last time he got out here, which has been somewhere around two months ago, that we wouldn't bring him back alive to jail alive anymore," Reece said.

That fact has the department on alert.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Shane Mabe you're asked to contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office at (423) 727-7761.
