KINGSPORT, Tenn. -

The Downtown Kingsport Flood Relief Committee will soon begin distributing help to downtown businesses affected by flooding in July.

The Downtown Kingsport Association tells News 5 it received 37 applications for funding assistance to help pay for losses caused by flooding. Those fund requests totaled around $333,000.

The association says that breaks down to about $71,000 for flood clean-up expenses, $159,000 in inventory loss, and $103,000 in restoration costs.

The association says it will not be able to completely cover all of the assistance requests, but all 37 applicants will receive some amount of funding with clean-up costs taking priority.

Checks are expected to be sent out next week.
