East Tennessee State University will not be receiving extra money from the State of Tennessee this year.
Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey tells us that's because state revenues weren't as high as expected.
He says lawmakers had to cut the additional funding for higher education along with pay raises for state employees and teachers from the budget.
Ramsey says the school isn't receiving less money it will be getting the same amount as last year. He said it was a difficult decision to make. "I'm a huge blue and gold kind of guy, so I'm going to do all I can to help them, he said. "But this year was just a tough year financially."
Ramsey says during the next general assembly they will revisit increased funds for higher education.
