NOLAND
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

East Tennessee State University students are hearing from the school's president for the first time since he was involved in a car crash the week before Thanksgiving.

This fall, Dr. Brian Noland had started a "From My Notepads" video address online, which he gave twice a month until the crash.

According to witnesses, the driver of a truck ran a red light and hit Noland's car back on November 18. Click here to read more about the accident.

In his video released Tuesday, Dr. Noland can be seen wearing a neck brace as he thanked those who have supported him over the last three weeks.

"I'm beyond humbled by the expression of care, concern, thought and prayer that I have received from everyone across East Tennessee," he said in the video. "I have a stack of cards, banners and flowers. In some respects, my home looks like a florist shop, but the outreach of support people have provided I can't begin to describe."

ETSU tells us Dr. Noland will not take part in graduation this Saturday. He did record a message that will be played for graduates.
