UPDATE: Names released in fatal crash in Gray

GRAY, Tenn. -

UPDATE 4/22:  Sheriff Ed Graybeal identified the people involved in the deadly crash.

The sheriff says 49-year-old Jerry Dugger of Bluff City was killed in the crash when he pulled the Nissan pick-up he was driving into the path of a cement truck.

His passenger 20-year-old Dalton Wilson of Bluff City is in the hospital with what is described as non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the cement truck was identified as Gerald Helbert of Blountville.

The crash happened just before 5:00 p.m. Monday afternoon on Highway 75 near the intersection with Sam Jenkins Road, which is in front of the Gray Fossil Site.

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a cement truck collides with a pick-up in Gray, Tennessee.

We’re told they were wearing their seatbelts, but did not stand a chance against the more than 30-ton mixing truck. Graybeal tells News 5, “I think the concrete truck weighed about 35,000 pounds itself and it had 7 yards of concrete on it. That would have been about 28,000 pounds. So, you're talking close to 60,000 pounds if now a little over.

Investigators are waiting to release the victim’s name until they notify next of kin. No charges are expected to be filed.
