RICHMOND, Va. -

A former chef at Virginia's executive mansion was sentenced Wednesday after entering a plea to a charge that he stole food from the first family's kitchen.

Todd Schneider entered a no contest plea to two misdemeanor embezzlement charges less than a month before he was scheduled to stand trial.

Schneider was ordered to serve six months in jail on each charge, with the time suspended. He was also ordered to pay $2,300 to the state in restitution for the food he took.

The case against Schneider led to a misconduct investigation against Governor Bob McDonnell, and entangled Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who is also running for governor.
