Funding for local shelter almost complete.
Funding for the Johnson city, Washington County Animal Shelter is almost complete!
Now that the Washington County Commission has voted to turn over the last $150,000 of the $350,000 they committed, construction is scheduled to begin sometime in June.
The animal shelter Director, Debbie Dobbs hopes this means they will have it built by next winter, "We're just hoping and praying that we won't spend another winter in this facility. It's very hard to go through a very hard winter, low temperatures with all the animals that are housed outside at this shelter. In the new facility it'll be climate controlled and we are looking forward to that."
We're told that a private donor has pledged another $250,00 to the project. That amount needs to be matched by the public, and with that money the animal control facility can have all the features they were hoping for.
