JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

It's hard to believe but kids in Johnson City are getting ready to head back to school soon and school supplies don't always run cheap.

Good Samaritan Ministries is happy to help with that and they headed to Cardinal Park Sunday to pass out backpacks, school supplies, clothes, food and, of course, a free ticket to Sunday's Johnson City Cardinals game. Good Samaritan Ministries is a non-profit organization reaching out to people in the community who are hungry, hurting and homeless.

The event served about 600 low-income families and the parents and kids there couldn't be more thankful.

"We're here for back to school stuff," says Zinnah, age 10.

"We got three kids to raise and take care of, and money is not that plentiful. It really helps out a lot," says James Ray, parent of three.

Good Samaritans Ministries say it's their mission to provide hope to those who feel hopeless.
