Gov. Haslam signs bill changing process for workers' comp claims

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

The Volunteer State is changing the way it considers injured workers' claims.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed a bill in Clarksville Tuesday which removes workers' compensation cases from the state's trial courts.  Instead, the bill creates special panels, appointed by Governor Haslam, to hear claims and appeals.

The Governor's Office says the bill simplifies the system while allowing employees to receive benefits faster and return to work sooner.
